WAUPUN, June 16, 2015 – East Central/Select Sires, based in Waupun, Wis., held their annual employee awards banquet on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at the Crowne Plaza, Madison. Jeremy Konen, Mazomanie, was named member service representative (MSR) of the year, with Matt Staner, Potosi, as runner-up. Brad Fossum, Lodi, was awarded area sales manager (ASM) of the year, with Eric Westphal, Byron, recognized as runner-up.
The honorable outstanding-effort awards were presented to John Buske, Brownsville, MSR; Dean Kroning, Soldiers Grove, relief MSR; and Linda Van Loo, Burnett, administration.

Outstanding achievement awards were presented to MSRs as follows. Eric Gudex, Oakfield, was honored for personal total service volume; Katherin Parsons, Portage, personal total service percent increase; Jeremy Konen, area contribution; and Mohammed Touir, Madison, accounts receivable. Ryan Besaw, Omro, was honored for semen blend and Matt Staner for semen blend percent increase. Dennis Gunst, Harford, was recognized for personal diversified product dollar percent increase; Katherin Parsons and Cory Gabor, Westfield, for area total service volume; and John Buske for area total service percent increase. Howie Minnema, Fond du Lac, was awarded for Select Mating Service volume. Shannon Sauer, Berlin, was recognized for two achievements: area direct herd and insemination/direct herd unit percent increase AND area total unit percent increase. The final MSR individual awards went to Kurt Barnes, Kiel: area direct herd and insemination/direct herd unit volume, area total unit volume, and personal diversified product dollar volume.
One MSR/MSR team in each region was recognized for top honors: Eric Gudex, region A; Dave Hahn, Campbellsport, and Casey Degnitz, Fredonia, region B; Bob Boatman, Darlington, region C; Jeremy Konen, region D; Matt Staner, region E; Sandy Hoppmann, Wilton, region F; and Mohammed Touir, large herd specialist.
Individual ASM awards were bestowed upon three employees. Kevin Cox, Sparta, was honored for personal total unit percent increase, area direct herd unit percent increase, and area total unit percent increase. Eric Westphal was recognized for personal total unit volume, Select Mating Service volume, and area diversified product dollar volume. Brad Fossum took home awards for area diversified product dollar percent increase, area direct herd unit volume, area total unit volume, and accounts receivable.
East Central/Select Sires has consistent longevity among their employee staff, and several were honored for their years of service at the banquet: Dave Hahn, 40 years; Sue Bos, Waupun, 35 years; Rod Alton, Monroe, 30 years; Howie Minnema, 30 years; Barb Bohnert, Waupun, 25 years; Eric Bierman, Livingston, 25 years; Joel Franke, Hillsboro, 25 years; Brad Fossum, 20 years; Doug Rake, Freedom, 20 years; Brian Immel, Campbellsport, 15 years; Julie Retzlaff, Elroy, five years; and Shannon Sauer, Berlin, five years.
In addition to Brad Fossum being recognized for exceeding 500,000 units of semen sold, 30 MSR employees were awarded for achieving additional milestones in lifetime first services. Among them were Bob Boatman and Howie Minnema: They are the first and second employees, respectively, in East Central/Select Sires history to achieve 175,000 first services. East Central/Select Sires held their annual employee awards banquet on June 13, 2015. Even with all the weddings, graduation parties, etc. that time of year, more than 60 percent of their employee base was able to attend the banquet in Madison, and they all gathered for a picture to document a good time had by all.
