Advent-Red Named Premier Sire at the 2009 Grand International Red & White Show
October 12th 2009

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, October 12, 2009 — It was a banner day for 7HO7872 KHW Kite ADVENT-RED-ET (EX-94), being crowned premier sire of the 2009 Grand International Red and White Show, Madison, Wis. This distinct honor comes after the legendary bull's passing in March of this year.

Known for providing the "ADVENT of Showtime," his daughters carried that tradition through World Dairy Expo with 23 daughters placing among the top-five of their classes. For type enthusiasts, a limited amount of ADVENT-RED semen remains available.

"ADVENT-RED's impact on the Holstein breed continues to build. He has single handedly elevated both the quantity and more importantly, the quality of Red and White cattle. ADVENT-RED is now included in conversations as one of Select Sires' most influential bulls ever," commented Brian Garrison, Select Sires' dairy sire analyst.

In the strongest class among the young cows, 20 ADVENT-RED junior 2-year-olds were paraded, including the top four in the class. Ms Radiance Adv Rae-Red-ET, owned by Joseph Osinga and John Koster, Hico, Texas, won the class and took intermediate champion honors. Reserve intermediate champion and second in the class went to Greenlea Advent Leta-Red, exhibited and owned by Mike and Julie Duckett and Jim and Nancy Junemann, Rudolph, Wis.

In the heifer classes, ADVENT-RED lived up to his reputation, siring the junior champion female and reserve junior champion female for the second consecutive year. The reigning 2008 reserve junior champion, Scenic-Edge Jellybean-Red, brought home another banner as the junior champion of 2009. She was the winner of the fall yearling class and is owned by Scenic-Edge Holsteins, Preder and Bohnhoff, Plymouth, Wis. Reserve junior champion went to L-Maples Khw Shari-Red-ET, the winner of the winter yearling class. She is owned by Milksource, Kaukauna, Wis.

Other ADVENT-RED daughters winning their classes included the first place winter heifer, Highborn Ad Koleis 1797-RC owned by Kyle Cacciola, Cobleskill, N.Y. Topping the spring yearling class was Sherona Hill Redclover-Red-ET, owned by Richard M. Green Sr., Middletown, Del. Taking top honors in the senior two-year-old cow class was Silvermine Adv Tally-Red-ET, owned by Dylan Ober, Glencoe, Minn. ADVENT-RED also sired the junior champion of the junior show. Beatyview Advent Rayann-ET, owned by Tori Butcher, Senoia, Ga., was named junior champion as the winning junior in the fall heifer class.

Not only did ADVENT-RED daughters steal the headlines in the Red and White show, his daughter Stone-Front Advent Laverne (EX-93-EX-MS), was named reserve grand champion of the International Junior Holstein Show, Madison and placed fifth in the International Holstein Show, Madison. She is owned by Shane Nodolf, Belmont, Wis.
