Excellent Classification at Select Sires

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, June 15, 2010 Select Sires had an outstanding classification day on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, with a total of 20 new Excellent sires at the end of the day. The highlight of the day was the parading of 7HO7004 Erbacres DAMION, who the classifier nominated to committee for a score of Excellent (95).Known as the king of type, Showcase Selections™ sire DAMION sires daughters who have achieved success on classification day and on the tanbark for their owners. In 2009, several of his daughters stood at the top of their classes at some of the most competitive shows in North America. He ranks in the top five of the breed for Type at +3.05, and breeders milking his daughters love what they see. In Canada, he is No. 2 for conformation. Within Select Sires’ lineup, he ranks third for Feet and Leg Composite (FLC) at +2.91 and among the top ten for Udder Composite (UDC) at +2.06.  First-Time Excellent SiresAnother highlight of the day was 7HO8866 Springway CARUSO-ET, raised two points to Excellent (90). This 7HO6417 O-Bee MANfred Justice-ET son is a solid production sire at +1,003 Milk with sound feet and legs. A DIAMOND SELECTion™ sire, he ranks No. 5 among Select Sires’ lineup for Feet and Leg Composite (+2.82 FLC) and produces strong cows that can handle any environment. With the HealthMark designation, he offers positive fitness traits as well as elite Net Merit Dollar value (+$411 NM) and high Protein (+.04% and +41 P). CARUSO stands among the top 10 at Select Sires for Total Performance Index™ (TPI™) at +1939 GTPI and ranks below the breed average for Calving Ease at 5%.Also earning Excellent for the first time was 7HO9107 Ronelee SS DURABLE *RC, who achieved Excellent (90) on his first score. New to Select Sires’ lineup in April, DURABLE debuted as the No. 1 Red Carrier for GTPI at +1915, and emphasizes type and fitness traits, making him a DIAMOND SELECTion™ sire. Hailing from one of the breed’s most respected cow families; this September Storm son advances Type (+2.15) and improves feet and legs (+2.95 FLC). This HealthMark sire also transmits strong Productive Life (+4.5 PL), Daughter Pregnancy Rate (+0.5 DPR) and Somatic Cell Score (2.62 SCS).  More Lineup Sires Raised in Score7HO8221 Golden-Oaks St ALEXANDER-ET was raised in score one point to Excellent (91). With extreme Type at +2.27 and strong production, ALEXANDER has been in high demand since his debut on the active lineup. This April graduate is a Titanic son that sires cows with moderate stature and superior udders (+1.71 UDC) and sound feet and legs (+1.53 FLC). With low calving difficulty (7% DBH) TOWNSEND can be used with ease in heifer pens. High reliability milk improver, 7HO6838 Barbi-Lyn M MATCHES-ET jumped one point to Excellent (92).
