Select Sires Delivers Spectacular Fall Holstein Show Results

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, Nov. 20, 2012—This fall the Select Sires lineup sired some of the most outstanding individuals at the All-American Dairy Show in Harrisburg, Pa., International Holstein Show at World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wis., Grand National Holstein Show at the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) in Louisville, Ky. and the Canadian National Holstein Show at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair (RAWF) in Toronto, Canada.
These show winners included daughters of breed greats like 7HO7872 KHW Kite ADVENT-RED-ET (EX-94) and 7HO5157 Regancrest Elton DURHAM-ET (EX-90-GM) as well as the No. 1 Type bull of the breed 7HO10506 Maple-Downs-I G W ATWOOD-ET (EX-90) and Showcase Selections™ sires 7HO8190 Gen-Mark Stmatic SANCHEZ (EX-94), 7HO9165 Regancrest S BRAXTON-ET (EX-95), 7HO8221 Golden-Oaks St ALEXANDER-ET (EX-94), 7HO7004 Erbacres DAMION (EX-96), 7HO8743 Scientific SS DUSK-ET (EX-94) and 7HO9893 Maple-Downs-I G W ATLANTIC-ET (VG-88).
G W ATWOOD daughter, BVK Atwood Arianna-ET (VG-89-EX-MS), exhibited by Jeff Butler and Frank and Diane Borba of Chebanse, Ill. was the winning junior two-year-old at both World Dairy Expo and the Canadian National Holstein Show. In the heifer show, G W ATWOOD also dominated with many top ten finishes at each show. At the All-American Junior Show, G W ATWOOD sired two class winners including summer yearling, Red-Springs Atwood Jordyn, exhibited by Justin Kennedy, New Castle, Penn. Jordyn was also won first place in both the open and junior shows at NAILE. The winning winter yearling in the All-American Junior Show was J&K-Vue Atwoods Greatest-ET, exhibited by Douglas Boop of Millmont, Penn. Jacobs Atwood Lilly Boy, owned by Ferme Jacobs of Cap-Sante, Quebec, finished second in the spring yearling heifer class at the International Holstein Show.
SANCHEZ sired a number of high-placing cows including Valleyville Rae Lynn (VG-89-VG-MS) owned by Quality Holsteins, Granja Ponderosa and Al-Be-Ro Land and Cattle of Woodbridge, Ontario who placed second in the senior two-year-old class at RAWF. Winning second place in the junior two-year-old class at RAWF was Roquet Jasmine Sanchez (VG-86) owned by Gen-Com Holstein Ltd., Notre Dame du Bon Conseil, Quebec. At the International Junior Holstein Show, Macland San My Button-ET (EX-91) exhibited by Anna Culbertson of Elgin, Minn., was the first place junior three-year-old and went on to be named reserve intermediate champion. The first milking yearling at the Grand National Junior Holstein Show was Schluter Sanchez Deidra-ET exhibited by Miranda Kollmann of New Baden, Ill. SANCHEZ continued to sire fancy heifers like Kingsway Sanchez Magician who was the winning fall yearling at RAWF and placed second for JM Valley, Cormdale, Jendro and Perfection of Amqui, Quebec at World Dairy Expo. The winning winter yearling and reserve junior champion at the All-American Dairy Show, Springway Sassy Rae, owned by Triple-T, Mike Heath and Cole and Olivia Cummings, North Lewisburg, Ohio was also a SANCHEZ daughter. Welk-Shade Sanchez Kate-ET, owned by Elijah Dobay and Keven Doeberiener of Farmdale, Ohio was the first place summer yearling at the All-American Dairy Show and was second at World Dairy Expo. Kingsway Sanchez Armadillo owned by Kingsway Farms and Jason David Mell, Hastings, Ontario was the second winter yearling at RAWF while Plum-Line Sanchez Kellie exhibited by Patrick Carey of Titusville, Pa., placed first in the spring heifer calf class in the Premier National Junior Show.
ALEXANDER had an outstanding day at RAWF. He sired two class winners including the reserve junior champion and winning winter yearling, Petitclerc Alexander Amycale owned by Ferme Jean-Paul Petitclerc and Fils, St-Basile, Quebec. The winning spring calf was Gebarten Alexander Evie, owned by Gebarton and Ryan Morrill of Preble, N.Y. In the International Junior Holstein Show, Reyncrest Alexndr Lavish-ET (VG-89), exhibited by Andrew and Mackenzie Reynolds of Corfu, N.Y., was the first place senior two-year-old.
At the Grand National Holstein Show several BRAXTON daughters placed at the top of their class highlighted by the junior champion and first place winter yearling, Express-SMD Braxton Devin, owned by Express and Stan-Mar-Dale Holsteins of Urbana, Ohio. The winning fall calf, Ryan-Vu Braxton Expo owned Paige Vossekuil, Brandon, Wis. and the first place spring yearling, Stan-Mar-Dale Victoria-ET, owned by Stan-Mar-Dale Holsteins, Urbana, Ohio were also sired by BRAXTON.
7HO9264 Lirr Drew DEMPSEY (VG-86) emerged as a sire of stylish calves this fall. The second place fall calf at World Dairy Expo and the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair was DEMPSEY daughter, Fusion Passions Poison, owned by Ferme Jean-Paul Petitclerc and Fils of St-Basile, Quebec. DEMPSEY also sired the first place winter calf and junior champion of the International Junior Holstein Show, Purple-Fever Dempsey Sam exhibited by Taylor Morrill of Dekalb Junction, N.Y. and now owned by Brad Cates, Aaron Eaton and Steve Morrill of Preble, N.Y.
At the All-American Dairy Show, ATLANTIC sired the winning senior two-year-old, C-Cove-NV Atlantic Lydia-ET (VG-87) owned by Cessna Brothers of Clearville, Pa. and 7HO10052 Klassic Big TIME-ET (GM) sired the first place junior two-year-old cow, Windy-Knoll-View Chantilly (VG-88), owned by Windy Knoll View Farm, Mercersburg, Pa.
Several junior shows also featured Select-sired class winners. DAMION sired the winning fall heifer calf in the junior show at the All-American Dairy Show and the Grand National Junior Holstein Show, Penn-Gra Damion Ayla owned by Courtney Campbell, Gratz, Pa. DUSK daughter Crave Dusk Penny 6262, exhibited by Roseanne Crave of Waterloo, Wis., was the first place fall yearling in the International Junior Holstein Show. Beatyview Guthrie Lindee-ET, exhibited by Morgan Beaty of McDonald, Tenn. and sired by 7HO9420 Fustead Goldwyn GUTHRIE-ET (EX-94), was the first spring calf at the Grand National Junior Holstein Show.
In the red and white show, Super Sampler™ 7HO10904 Sandy-Valley COLT P-RED-TW sired the second place spring calf in the RAWF Red and White show, Bobmur Colt Lavish P owned by Bobmur Farms and Wilbert A. Freeman, Listowel, Ontario. Another COLT P-RED daughter, Orcherdhill Colt Rory-Red owned by Cecilia Morse, Troy, Pa., won the spring heifer calf class in the All-American Junior Red and White Show and was the first place junior at the International Red and White Show. DUSK daughter, Larochelle Dusk Rose owned by Ferme Larochelle S.E.N.C., St-Lazare, Quebec was the second place fall calf in the RAWF Red and White show.
