Bartholomew, Madland named East Central/Select Sires Interns
June 3rd 2013

WAUPUN, WI (6/3/13) – Lynn Bartholomew and Garrett Madland recently kicked off their summer as the East Central/Select Sires interns.  Lynn Bartholomew will assist with projects including the awards banquet, county fair donation projects and writing, editing and graphic design with the communications department.  

Bartholomew will be a junior in the fall at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.  Currently, she is pursuing a major in Marketing Communications with a minor in Professional Writing. Bartholomew is from Big Bend, Wisconsin.  She hails off a sixty cow dairy farm that is owned and operated by her parents, Donald and Janet Bartholomew.

Bartholomew is involved in a variety of activities on the UWRF campus such as Sigma Alpha Beta Zeta, UWRF Collegiate Farm Bureau, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin.  Lynn also maintains a part time job working as a Desk Assistant in the University Center on campus.

After graduating from UWRF, she plans to work in the agricultural industry before opening her own marketing firm to support agricultural businesses throughout the country.  She is thrilled to be working with East Central/Select Sires this summer!

Garrett Madland will have the opportunity to experience a career in the A.I. industry and hone his breeding skills in both large herd tail chalking operations, along with conventional sized dairies.

Madland will be a senior in the fall at University of Wisconsin-Platteville.  Currently, he is majoring in Animal Science with a Dairy Emphasis.  Madland hails from Lyndon Station, Wisconsin.  His family farm, Lyndell Dairy, is a 400 cow operation; in addition they crop 1700 acres in Sauk and Juneau counties. 

Madland is an active member of the Pioneer Dairy Club, where he is currently on the sale committee for the 2013 Pioneer Classic Sale. Additionally, he enjoys being a member of the UW-Platteville Dairy Judging Team. Outside of school, he is serving his second term as President of the District 5 Junior Holsteins.

After graduating, his future plans include working in the dairy/artificial insemination industry and staying connected to his family dairy.  He is excited to begin his internship with East Central/ Select Sires and looks forward to learning more about the cooperative and how he can serve its’ customers!
